Town of Oromocto

Map

Description

The Town of Oromocto is known for being next to the largest military base in the province, base Gagetown. On the base you will find Lindsay Falls and the Lindsay Valley Trail System. This is an all-season trail system that is accessible to the public.

The Town has been rebranding itself to be the gateway between the three biggest cities in the province. When traveling from Fredericton, the highway splits to go to Moncton or Saint John just after passing Oromocto. As part of this rebranding, they have built and visitor centre and short trail at the Gateway Wetland Park near the exit.

The reason I love exploring Oromocto is because of Deer Park. Deer Park has trails that follow along the edge of a wetland and the Oromocto River. A great place to look for ducks and blue heron.

Directions

The Town of Oromocto is just off Route 2 to the east of Fredericton. If you are leaving Fredericton and heading to Moncton or Saint John it will take you about 15 minutes to get there.
