Description

The Customs House Trail begins at the small visitor centre near the bridge from Lubec, Maine. The first part is mowed and travels back along the road towards the bridge. The trail veers away from the road and travels through patches of spruce and meadows as it descends the hill towards the Lubec channel. As the trail gets close to the shore it changes from mowed to forested and continues to travel along the shore. There are several places to access the beach on this section. From the beach you will have great views of the bridge and may see sea ducks swimming in the channel.

The trail takes a couple of sharp turns as it goes inland to cross a bridge over a small stream valley. After crossing the bridge, the trail turns back towards the shore. The trail then heads through the woods and eventually emerges into the field at Fox Farm Meadow. There is a tick warning sign at the start of the trail due to the grassy parts of this trail.
