Description
Note that the section of trail between Yellow Banks and Lower Duck Pond were closed on our last visit in 2023.
The Liberty Point to Lower Duck Pond Trail follows the rocky shoreline. The first bench and lookout are on a point just, around the corner from Liberty Point. The views from this lookout are of the Lubec Channel and across to the West Quoddy Head Lighthouse in Maine.
The trail travels through a mostly coastal spruce forest with some yellow birch. The trail travels through large patches of ferns. There are a few wet patches that have narrow boardwalks. The next bench and lookout provides views of Lower Duck Pond, and the long crescent beach.

Continue along the coast and you will come out to a small open meadow overlooking Lower Duck Pond. This is Yellow Banks, where there is a parking area and picnic tables. The section of the trail between Yellow Banks and Lower Duck Pond is rockier and passes by a couple of small cliffs. There is one more lookout that overlooks Lower Duck Pond Beach before reaching the parking lot at Lower Duck Pond.
This trail can be made into a nice 6.6 kilometre loop by combining it with the Lower Duck Pond to Raccoon Beach and Sunsweep trails.

Directions
There are three ways to access the Liberty Point to Lower Duck Pond Trail. The first is at Lower Duck Pond. To get to Lower Duck Pond Beach, drive in the Glensevern Road across the Roosevelt Cottage historic site. Continue on the Glensevern Road for just over 5 kilometres and you will see the road down to Lower Duck Pond Beach on the right. Continue on this short road to the parking area near the beach. You will find the trail enter the woods on the left.
The second access point is at Yellow Banks. Continue another 400 metres on the Glensevern Road and you will come to the parking area at Yellow Banks on the right. There is a mowed path off the end of the parking area that takes you down to the trail.

The third access point is near Liberty Point. Continue on the Glensevern Road for another kilometre and you will come to the parking area at Liberty Point (this is the end of the road). Park here and walk back the road. The trail enters the woods on the right about 100 metres from the parking area.
